Ms. Pat Kelly

My doctor has taken me completely off diabetes meds. WOW…

Enid H.

Mickey Harpaz has done wonderful things for our family. My late husband suffered many problems because of his heart and he loved food. Mickey Harpaz worked with him over the years through nutritional consultation to reduce his weight and give him more years of life. I found I had diabetes several years ago, so I went for consultation because I did not wish to take shots of insulin. I was able to regulate my diabetes and was doing fine until this past winter when I lost my husband. The stress, lack of exercise, and sloppy eating habits made me return for more consultation. It is taking a bit more discipline now, but the sugar numbers are coming down. What is also important is that my GP doctor is delighted that I am working with Mickey Harpaz. Now my daughter, who gained lots of weight after her children were born and who needs to take certain medications for another live-long problem that causes weight gain, is consulting with Mickey Harpaz and is beginning to lose weight.

I have personally recommended Mickey Harpaz to a number of people, because besides his regular consulting, he has become a friend and he shows great interest and understanding the whole person. He gives you tips and ideas on how to satisfy cravings and how much exercise and what kind you need to stay in good condition. He has meant so much to my family.

Mrs. D. Jackson

I am a 58 year old woman with a family history of Diabetes. My mother and both her parents were diabetic. My mother and grandmother lost a leg to this dreadful disease. Needless to say, I was panic struck when I was told that my blood sugar was 160. I immediately contacted Mickey Harpaz, and begged him to help me. I told him that I would do anything to avoid the nightmare that my Mom endured. He assured me that although my family background was a strong factor in my elevated sugar, I was not predestined to my Mom’s fate. He told me that if I ate at regular intervals, and in small quantities, my sugar would gradually return to normal. I was determined to reach this goal. Within one week my sugar levels started to slowly decline. Within one month they were well on their way to within normal ranges. Within six weeks they were below 100.  I can’t thank Mickey Harpaz enough for helping me. Today I am still controlling my sugar levels, and I am not on any medication. I owe this miracle to Mickey Harpaz

Mrs. W. Sonshine

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 3 years ago. At first, controlling my diabetes was manageable. After I had my first child, my sugar levels began to spiral out of control plus I was unable to lose my pregnancy weight. Your plan enabled me to control my sugars and helped to begin the post-pregnancy weight loss.

I am now pregnant with my second child. About 3 months into my pregnancy my sugar levels started hitting dangerous lows (30s) and highs above 250. I immediately schedule an appointment to begin getting the sugar levels and my anxiety under control. After several weeks of working on my meal plans, timing of meals and exercise routine, I have been able to stabilize my sugar levels and my anxiety. Plus, after gaining 40 lbs during my first pregnancy, I have been able to keep my weight gain to a little over 16 lbs by month 7.

Mrs. L. Fuccillo

Dear Mickey,

When I started your program…I weighed over 220 lbs and had a real nice roll of fat around my waist. In less than 3 months, on your program of exercise and good nutrition, I now weigh 200 lbs, but most important my roll of fat has melted away and I feel GREAT!

I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy I joined your program, because I don’t think I could have done it or have had the same results if I’d tried it on my own. Thanks again and good luck.

Richard D. Chimblo

I can tell you truthfully, no matter what exercise I do, the principals of healthy eating that you taught me have remained a part of my life no matter what. I talk about your program often and thank you for trying to reach the rest of the world.

Not only has nutrition and exercise become a passion for me, I am currently helping to bring the “Just Run” program our of California into our schools here in my area. These values and the values you taught me about food will forever be a part of my life. You are an amazing doctor and educator; I hope you never give up!

Peace and happiness to you and all of your family,
Karen U. – New Hope, PA

When I first found out that I was expecting I was very excited, but I was also determined to be somewhat in control of my changing body. I started Mickey Harpaz’s program when I was 10 weeks into my pregnancy and since then I have continued to lose body fat, although I have gained weight because of my growing baby.

My daily exercise along with my newly acquired dietary habits have helped me not only because it is important to stay active, but also because it has eliminated some “side effects” of being pregnant like heartburn, swelling and constipation.

The best part of the program for me is that I have been able to control my gestational diabetes without any insulin and virtually any efforts.

Following the program has been easier because of Mickey Harpaz’s approach: he educated me instead of just giving me strict rules to follow.

Now at the end of my pregnancy, I am happy to say that I have been able to reach my goal of controlling my changing body thanks to Mickey Harpaz’s guidance and support.

Mardi, who has lost 90 pounds on the Anti Diet program, shares a story about his former lifestyle:

Dear Mickey Harpaz:
remember one time I went out to dinner with a vendor whom I dealt with. We went to this classy restaurant. This restaurant had chrome chairs. I felt mine weakening all night. I was afraid to lean back. Well, after the meal I felt like sitting back in the chair and guess what? The chair slowly collapsed, and I found myself on the floor unable to get up. The maitre d’ tried to help me up with another waiter and everybody was watching. I was so embarrassed. After that I picked out my restaurants not by the food, but by the seats that they had. If they had the arm chair type of seats, I’d never go back-I just didn’t fit. In fact, I even filled out a suggestion form at a certain hotel in Chicago to explain to them that it was almost discriminatory to have one type of chair in the entire restaurant. It discriminated against big people like me who could not fit into any of them. Guys, don’t take for granted that you are healthy. To you overweight people, between us, get into proper nutrition and an active lifestyle and you can change the decision of which restaurant you’d like to go to by the menu, not the style of the chairs.

One day Mardi decided to try my program. He educated himself about proper nutrition, how to eat healthfully, and how to begin exercising. Since then, Mardi has lost over 90 pounds and continues to lose weight. Many things are changing in his life, including tying his own shoelaces and being able, for the first time in his life, to sit on a plane in a window seat and to eat normally on a tray that doesn’t rest on his belly. He is now able to come to my office and sit on the sofa without having to think twice about being able to get up.

A recent letter sums up Mardi’s experience since deciding to never diet again:

Dear Mickey,
This is just a note to let you know how much I really appreciate all of the help you have given me in the past few months. I really had no understanding about why I was overweight or what I was eating, good or bad, or how it affected me mentally and physically. I have been to many doctors, dieticians and hospitals, all with very little success. If there was any success at all, it was very short-lived and I was quite miserable during the so-called “program.”

Mickey, you have given me my life back. Without your help in both nutrition and exercise programs I was headed for certain disaster. I never diet and still lose weight on your program. Moreover, I ate, six times a day, the foods that I enjoy, not the so-called “packaged foods” for health you hear so much about nowadays. You have .given me an active lifestyle filled with education about nutrition and exercise that will be with me for the rest of my life.

I thank you and my family thanks you.

Tyrone, after successfully integrating the Anti Diet program into his life, wrote me the following letter:

Dear Mickey:
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my appreciation for the courtesy and excellent supervision provided to and for me during my use of your program. It is clear that unless such valuable direction is available, reaching desired goals relating to health, weight and nutrition will be much more difficult, if at all possible.

My physician recommended a health club atmosphere to address general conditioning, weight and mental attitude. While was my choice, I made little or no progress toward my goal, except superficial ones.

Then I joined your program and within eight weeks had not only made a major impact in weight and general conditioning, but acquired direct health benefits in respect to a lung condition and an operation-affected muscle area. Perhaps the most significant benefit, if it were possible to single out one, would be the educational function. By learning about food and its roles in my life from a nutritional and physiological standpoint, I was able to realign old eating habits. More importantly, I could make this adjustment with a positive attitude. The short-term benefits that come from this program are very rewarding and fulfill health needs in people’s daily life-both physical and physiological.

In the final analysis, though it is due to the long-term benefits of sustained nutrition, good eating habits and a balanced attitude towards exercise will prove to be the real gift. All of this is only possible because of your program’s deep commitment to integrate awareness through education in your clients. I would recommend this program to all who would want to improve their understanding of how to live better and healthier.

Joseph made healthy lifestyle changes with the Anti Diet program to counteract his weight problem and a serious pulmonary condition. His letter is addressed to the director of the health club where I conducted my program:

I now have a new lease on life. I’m sure that you would like to know that this is due to Mickey Harpaz and his program, which is offered through your services. I’m sixty years old and for the past ten years I’ve been suffering with a chronic condition diagnosed as COPD [Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease]. This, combined with my overweight and sporadic exercise program left me out of breath most of the time.

My daughter, who is an exercise physiologist in Florida, recommended that I look for a pulmonary program in my area. I was fortunate to find such a program being offered through your club. I would like you to know that Mickey Harpaz is an intelligent and sensitive person who offers an outstanding program. After six weeks I’ve lost eighteen pounds and am feeling much more physically fit and breathing better than I have in many years.

At this point in time I feel that Mickey has set some realistic goals for me and is giving me the knowledge and encouragement to move towards my goals.

“Mickey Harpaz combines a solid knowledge of exercise physiology and nutrition with good common sense and lots of enthusiasm. His individualized “healthy heart” programs have helped a large number of my patients with problems ranging from diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol to simple obesity.

His one-on-one and group sessions teach patients the fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle while his dynamic personality motivates them to convert principles into practice. Mickey Harpaz has often succeeded where other diet and exercise programs have failed.”

Carolyn Becker, MD, FACP

“We realize today that weight reduction involves a commitment to a change in lifestyle, a lifestyle with good diet and carefully planned exercise program.

Over the past few years we have referred a large number of our patients to Mickey Harpaz and have been very pleased with his program of diet and exercise retraining leading to long term results, not the “quick fix” so common today.”
